Why law firms use bSign

Signed today, with the evidence on file.

The evidence, on every document

Each finished document comes with a certificate of completion: every signer's name and email, when they viewed and signed, their IP address and how they were verified, plus a history that can only be added to.

Know who signed

Have each signer confirm a one-time code sent to their email before the document opens. Personal links stop working when a document expires or is voided, and a hand-off to a colleague is recorded.

A partner approves before the client signs

Add a reviewer ahead of the signers and set the order. The client is only asked once the letter has been approved.

Filed to the matter folder

Connect OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Box or Dropbox and every signed PDF and its certificate save themselves, named after the document. bSign does not have to be your system of record.

In Canada, and you can see who looked

Documents and signing records are stored in Canada on servers Binarium operates. The access log shows everyone who opened a document, including our own staff.

Templates for the letters you send every week

Build the retainer once, with its fields in place, and send it in under a minute. Send the same document to a whole client list from a spreadsheet.

How it works

From upload to a sealed PDF in three steps

No training needed. Most documents go out in under two minutes, and signers finish on the device they already have in their hand.

01

Upload or pick a template

Drop in a PDF or Word file, or start from a template you made once. Drag the signature, date and text boxes where they belong.

02

Send, or hand over a tablet

Each person gets their own link by email and signs on any phone or computer, with no account. In the room with you? They sign on your screen.

03

Sealed, and filed for you

Everyone gets the sealed PDF and its certificate of completion. A copy saves itself to OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Box or Dropbox if you connect one.

What bSign is not for

In Ontario, wills and most powers of attorney still need ink and witnesses, affidavits need a commissioner, and land registration runs through its own system. A code sent by email shows that someone controls an email address; it is not client identification under your law society's rules. The rules differ by province, so check your law society's guidance. bSign is not certified under SOC 2 or ISO 27001; the security page says plainly what it does and does not do.

Questions

What law firms ask us

Something else? Write to support@binarium.ca.

Are electronic signatures valid on a retainer agreement in Canada?

Yes, for most documents. Electronic signatures are recognized under PIPEDA (Part 2) and the provincial electronic commerce acts, such as Ontario's Electronic Commerce Act, 2000. A few kinds of document are excluded and still need ink or a witness.

What evidence do we get if a signature is challenged?

A sealed PDF whose SHA-256 fingerprint is recorded when it is finished, a certificate of completion listing each signer, when they viewed and signed, their IP address and how they were verified, and the full history of the document.

Where are our documents stored, and who can open them?

In Canada, on servers operated by Binarium in Ontario. Your administrators decide who in the firm has access. Binarium staff who run the service can open a site to support it, and every such access appears in your access log.

Can we use bSign for wills, powers of attorney or affidavits?

Not as the only step. In Ontario those documents have their own signing, witnessing or commissioning rules that an electronic signature alone does not meet. Use bSign for the documents around them.

Can signed documents go straight to our document system?

Yes, if it is OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Box or Dropbox: connect it once and signed copies save themselves. For other systems there is an API, webhooks, Zapier and Power Automate.

Do clients need an account?

No. A client opens a personal link from their email and signs on any phone or computer.
