PDF, Word and image files. Word files are converted to PDF for you.
Paperwork done before the patient sits down.
Signed before they arrive
Email the forms when the appointment is booked. Patients sign on their phone in a couple of minutes, in any of seven languages, and reception starts the day with complete files.
Or signed at the front desk
Open the form on a tablet and hand it over. bSign records it as signed in person, hosted by your staff, with the same sealed PDF and certificate.
Links, not attachments
Turn on Send links only and every email carries a personal link and a one-time code, never the form itself. Nothing is left in an inbox to be forwarded.
Kept for as long as your schedule says
Set a retention period and bSign deletes finished documents when it is up, or have every signed copy saved to your own SharePoint or Google Drive.
See who opened what
The access log shows who opened, downloaded, printed or shared each document, including our own staff, and exports when you need it.
Paper is still welcome
A patient who prefers a pen can print, sign and upload a photo. bSign adds it to the sealed document and tells you.
From upload to a sealed PDF in three steps
No training needed. Most documents go out in under two minutes, and signers finish on the device they already have in their hand.
Upload or pick a template
Drop in a PDF or Word file, or start from a template you made once. Drag the signature, date and text boxes where they belong.
Send, or hand over a tablet
Each person gets their own link by email and signs on any phone or computer, with no account. In the room with you? They sign on your screen.
Sealed, and filed for you
Everyone gets the sealed PDF and its certificate of completion. A copy saves itself to OneDrive, SharePoint, Google Drive, Box or Dropbox if you connect one.
Health privacy laws
Whether bSign meets PHIPA, HIPAA or another health privacy law for you depends on how you use it and on your own obligations as a custodian. bSign is not certified under any of them. If you need a PHIPA service-provider agreement or a HIPAA business associate agreement, talk to us before you start, and read how bSign protects documents.
Can patients sign on their phone?
Yes. Each patient gets a personal link by email, opens it on any phone, tablet or computer and is guided through the fields they need to fill. There is no app to install.
Do patients need an account?
No. Signers never need an account. You can ask them to confirm a one-time code sent to their email before the form opens.
Can we collect signatures at the front desk?
Yes. Open the document on a tablet or your own computer and choose in-person signing. The certificate records that it was signed in person, hosted by the staff member who opened it.
Where is patient information stored?
In Canada, on servers operated by Binarium, an Ontario IT services company. Each clinic's documents are kept apart from every other organization's.
Does bSign meet PHIPA or HIPAA?
That depends on how you use it and on your own obligations. bSign gives you the controls these laws expect of a signing tool (links instead of attachments, signer codes, retention and an access log) but it is not certified under them. If you need a service-provider or business associate agreement, talk to us first.
Can a patient attach a file, such as an insurance card?
Yes. Add an attachment field to the form and the patient can upload a photo or PDF, which is kept with the signed document.
